The AI Sales Layer: Knowing Your Buyer at the Micro Moments That Matter

Whatever demand strategy you run, something has to talk to the buyer. The Knock Knock app knows each buyer, remembers what they have seen, and acts when it matters.

The buyers we never saw

Years ago, Omar and I were running an agency in Auckland through a recession. Our pipeline looked empty. It wasn’t. People were visiting our site, reading our pages, starting to fill in our forms, and leaving halfway. We had no idea who they were, and nobody ever spoke to them.

That is the problem we set out to solve with the Knock Knock app. Not more leads. Not another form. A conversation with the buyer, at the moment they are interested, on the channel they chose.

Today I think about it as an AI sales layer: one intelligence that sits across your channels, knows each buyer already in your ecosystem, remembers everything they have seen and said, and acts at the micro moments that decide whether a deal moves forward.

Strategies change. The conversation is constant.

The demand generation world is full of new frameworks right now. One I like is Agentic Demand from ANNUITAS. In their explainer, Adam Needles describes a shift away from passing leads to sales, towards AI that keeps engaging and qualifying a buyer until a real hand-off happens: a live conversation or a meeting on a seller’s calendar.

I agree with the direction. But notice what every one of these strategies depends on. Something has to actually talk to the buyer. Something has to know who they are, what they have already seen, and when they are ready.

That is the layer we build. The Knock Knock app is not a demand generation strategy. It is the AI sales layer underneath whatever strategy you or your agency choose to run. Your CRM stays your system of record, whether that is GoHighLevel or HubSpot. Your campaigns stay yours. Knock Knock is where the conversations happen and where the understanding of each buyer lives.

The model

Here is the whole idea on one page. Buyers arrive on whatever channel suits them. The sales layer works out who they are, remembers everything about them, and NOX decides what to do next. What comes out the other side is not a list of leads. It is booked meetings, live conversations and a CRM that is always up to date.

The three layers in the middle are what make it a sales layer rather than a chatbot: identity, memory, and a brain that acts on both.

Identity: one buyer, one ID, across channels

You cannot have a real conversation with someone you do not recognise. So the Knock Knock app starts with identity.

  • Each buyer has their own ID. Whether they first arrive through an email, a website visit, a call or a message, they are one person in the system, not five disconnected records.
  • Each link has its own ID. Connect the Knock Knock app to GoHighLevel or HubSpot and each contact gets its own token, so the links in your emails carry tokenised IDs. A click tells you who clicked and which piece of content caught their attention.
  • The visitor ID graph joins the dots. When a known buyer comes back to your site, days or weeks later, the graph recognises them and connects the visit to everything that came before.

This is the routine I use for my own prospecting. I send a tokenised email with a link to a blog post. When that specific person lands on the site, I get a notification on my phone. If I am free, I jump in. If I am not, NOX engages, records the touchpoint and moves the buyer forward.

The loop keeps building. Each touch makes the next one more relevant.

Memory: the journey picks up where it left off

Once a buyer has an ID, the Knock Knock app can keep a running record of their relationship with you. Three things matter most:

  • What they have said. Chats, calls, WhatsApp messages and email replies, held in one shared memory. When a buyer comes back, NOX does not start again with “How can I help?” It continues the conversation.
  • What they have seen. Which emails they opened, which links they clicked, which pages, guides and videos they consumed, and how long they spent with each.
  • What they have not seen yet. This is the part most tools miss. If a buyer has read your pricing page and a case study but never watched your demo video, that gap is the obvious next step.

Interactions are pushed to your CRM, so your team sees the same picture NOX does. Your CRM keeps running your nurture campaigns. The Knock Knock app watches for the moment a contact in it is ready to talk, and acts.

NOX and the micro moments that decide deals

Google introduced the idea of micro-moments years ago. In a Think with Google piece, Sridhar Ramaswamy described them as intent-rich moments when people reach for a device to learn, find or buy something, and when decisions and preferences get shaped.

In B2B and considered purchases, those moments are smaller and easier to miss. A buyer opens your email three weeks after you sent it. They look at your pricing page for the second time. They ask one question on WhatsApp late at night. On their own, none of these look like a lead.

On their own, none of these look like a lead. Together, they are a buyer getting ready.

NOX is the central brain of the Knock Knock app, and its job is to care about those moments. Because it has the buyer’s identity and memory, it can tell the difference between a stranger browsing and a known buyer coming back with intent. And because it works across channels, it can respond where the buyer is, straight away. NOX tracks a live lead score and a live engagement score for each buyer. When engagement spikes, it can act instantly: send a greeting message, trigger an email, or bring an AI agent into the conversation.

From stranger to booked meeting: the score stages and what happens at each one.

Without a sales layer, that week looks like four separate leads in four separate tools. With one, it is a single conversation that ends in a booked meeting.

What this means for agencies

If you run an agency, your clients do not need another tool that generates leads nobody calls. They need to know who is interested, and they need someone talking to those buyers at the right moment.

The Knock Knock app gives you that as a white-label product you can resell under your own brand. It sits alongside the CRM your clients already use, so GoHighLevel and HubSpot stay at the centre of their operations. Whatever strategy you run for a client, Knock Knock becomes the layer that turns attention into conversations and conversations into booked meetings.
