Comparison

Knock Knock vs. GoHighLevel AI Employee

If you are on GoHighLevel, you already have AI in the box. That is the most common and most reasonable objection this product faces, so here is a straight answer: the native bundle is good, it is cheaper, and for a lot of clients it is enough. Here is precisely where it stops.

GoHighLevel platform and AI Employee pricing verified against gohighlevel.com/pricing and HighLevel's AI product pricing help article (updated 10 September 2026), read 11 September 2026. Knock Knock pricing and tier features read from knockknockapp.ai/pricing on 11 September 2026.

Credit where it is due

HighLevel's AI Employee is a real product, not a checkbox. The billing scope today covers Conversation AI, Voice AI, Reviews AI, Content AI, Ask AI and AI Studio. Funnel and Website AI is now free on all plans and sits outside the paid bundle, and Knowledge Base and Email AI are included across plans. Conversation AI in particular is genuinely capable at inbound replies and booking.

The pricing detail most people get wrong: AI Employee is $97/mo per sub-account for the Unlimited tier, or $50/mo per sub-account for Growth, on top of a HighLevel platform plan at $97, $297 or $497. Ten clients on the Unlimited add-on is $970/mo in AI alone. On the $97 tier voice minutes are unlimited rather than per-minute billed, which is a genuinely good deal — but Agent Studio is pay-per-use on every plan and is not included in it, and telephony is charged on every call regardless.

Two more structural points. Rebilling AI usage with your own markup requires the $497 Agency Pro plan; rebilling without markup needs $297 Unlimited. And AI Employee only exists inside HighLevel — there is no standalone version and no connector to another CRM.

We wrote about this at length in Why pay for Knock Knock when GoHighLevel already has AI, and it’s cheaper? — that post covers the reply-bot-versus-sales-layer argument and the database reactivation maths in more depth. This page is the current, verified pricing comparison; the post is the longer argument behind it.

Naming caution: “AI Employee” means different things on HighLevel's marketing site (AI Receptionist, AI Scheduler, AI Marketer, AI Sales Agent, Agent Studio) than in its billing documentation. The list above follows the billing scope, because that is what you actually pay for.

Which one you should actually pick

Stay with native AI Employee if…

  • Your clients need inbound replies and appointment booking, and that is genuinely the whole job.
  • You have one or two sub-accounts, where $97 each is cheap and the per-sub-account multiplier has not started to bite.
  • You are already on Agency Pro at $497 and want to rebill AI usage with a markup using machinery you have already paid for.
  • Voice volume is high and predictable — unlimited minutes at $97/sub-account is hard to beat.

Add Knock Knock if…

  • The leads you are missing are the ones who never opened the chat. A reply bot cannot reach someone who never spoke.
  • You want live session visibility — the thing HighLevel's own users have been voting for on the ideas board.
  • The per-sub-account maths has turned against you. At ten clients the native add-on costs more per month than our Scale tier.
  • You want to sell an outcome rather than resell a feature your competitors also have switched on.

Frequently asked questions

Does Knock Knock replace GoHighLevel's AI?

No, and it is not meant to. GoHighLevel stays as the CRM and automation engine. Knock Knock sits on top as the sales layer, adding visitor identification, live session visibility, outbound prospecting and live video — the things a reply bot was never built to do. Most agencies that run both keep Conversation AI switched on for simple inbound booking.

How much is GoHighLevel AI Employee really?

$50/mo per sub-account for Growth or $97/mo per sub-account for Unlimited, on top of a platform plan at $97, $297 or $497. The per-sub-account part is what surprises people: ten clients on Unlimited is about $970/mo in AI charges alone. Telephony is billed on every call, and Agent Studio is pay-per-use even on the Unlimited tier.

Is voice really unlimited on the $97 tier?

Voice AI minutes are unlimited on the $97 Unlimited add-on, yes — per-minute AI charges apply on the pay-per-use option instead. The underlying phone system charge still applies to every call, so “unlimited” refers to the AI component rather than the whole cost of the call.

Can I white-label GoHighLevel's AI Employee?

You can rebill AI usage with your own markup on the $497 Agency Pro plan, and white-label the platform itself through SaaS Mode on that same plan. What HighLevel does not document anywhere is whether the AI Employee surfaces specifically appear fully unbranded inside a white-labelled sub-account, so we are not going to assert it either way.

Does GoHighLevel identify anonymous website visitors?

No. Its funnel analytics use IP and browser data to tell visitors apart and avoid double-counting, and its geographic analytics show a country-and-city heat map, but neither resolves an anonymous visitor to a person or company. HighLevel's own documentation states that visitors who never submit information may remain anonymous.

Keep GoHighLevel. Add the layer it was never built to be.

Fifteen minutes on your own site, showing you the visitors the native bundle never sees.
